Utah has amazing scenery, and some of the best is located at Zion National Park. The park contains high plateaus, deep sandstone canyons, soaring rock towers, and lonely mesas.
Zion National Park is part of what geologists call The Grand Staircase, a region where rock layers have been uplifted, tilted, and eroded into a series of colorful cliffs stretching between Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon.
The top steps start at Bryce Canyon, drop through Zion Canyon, and finish at the Grand Canyon.

Angels Landing Trail at Zion National Park
The photograph at right was taken from Angels Landing. It overlooks the Virgin River, and is reached by a 2.5-mile trail that climbs 1,500 feet.
Thousands of people use the trail, but it can be dangerous. Less than a month ago, Nancy Maltex, 55, hiking with her husband and three children, fell 1,000 feet to her death from this trail.
